The Alpha System™ offers convenience, comfort and ease of use with no sacrifice to performance. The Alpha 2 bone anchored hearing device is ideal for those with conductive or mixed loss with bone conduction thresholds better than 45 dB or for single sided deafness when the better ear has thresholds better than 20 dB.

The Alpha 2 bone anchored hearing device consists of three elements:

• A titanium implant containing two magnets
• The externally worn Alpha 2 sound processor
• External magnets with varying strengths to ensure comfort and safety

Alpha History

First implanted in 2006, and approved for release via a CE mark in 2010, thousands of Alpha System implants and sound processors have been placed, primarily in the U.S., Germany and Western Europe. Because of the far simpler surgical procedure, there has been no reported loss of implants, nor issues with post-surgical infections.

Sophono was incorporated in October 2009, following five years of research and development, with a vision and dedication to improving the bone anchored hearing device experience. The Alpha 2 System was designed and is manufactured in our new facility in Boulder, Colorado, USA.
