Sophono’s Headquarters and Manufacturing Facility in Boulder, CO
The Alpha System™ was initially developed in Germany following five years of research and with a vision and dedication to improving the bone anchored hearing device experience. The Alpha 1™ was released in 2006 and used primarily in Germany and Western Europe.
Sophono was incorporated in October 2009, bringing the Alpha System to the United States. All Alpha System devices are now produced in our corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility in Boulder, Colorado. The company maintains an office in Germany, works with more than 20 distributors, and is actively selling in more than 30 countries.
Sophono is guided by a leadership team and board of directors. In August of 2012, Sophono closed on $7 million in growth capital financing. Sophono is using the financing to fuel product and business development efforts for its proven technology. Chief among these are to increase a global sales force, further develop products already on the market, introduce additional products and expand manufacturing facilities in Boulder.
We are also committed to using green materials for the packaging of the sound processor, as well as our marketing and sales materials.
Sophono products provide a high-quality hearing solution with distinct advantages to traditional bone anchored devices. The company’s products are designed for individuals suffering from severe to profound hearing loss or impairment. The Sophono Alpha System is the only abutment-free, implantable, bone-anchored hearing system available today. Treating those with conductive hearing loss, mixed hearing loss, and single-ear deafness, the FDA-cleared Alpha devices eliminate the problematic abutment of devices by using magnets to affix external sound processors.
